SOMEDAY ALL THIS WILL BE YOURS
Look over yonder – Castles are burning
Come my way – Come my way
Don’t leave footprints – Don’t even look behind you
Come my way – Come my way
Someday all this will be yours – Someday all this will
Someday all this will be yours – Someday all this will
Charlie Chaplin – time traveling
Come my way – Come my way
Boots of laughter – mighty hereafter
Come my way – Come my way
Someday all this will be yours – Someday all this will
Someday all this will be yours – Someday all this will
Ring them wedding bells – Ring them loud as hell
Show you “Yes I Can!” – Like an American
Look over yonder – Castles are burning
Come my way – Come my way
Someday all this will be yours – Someday all this will
Someday all this will be yours – Someday all this will
AMERICAN STORIES PART 2
They were broken-hearted men
Although you’d never know it
They hid their tears behind spaceman shades
Hated the sun – adored the rain
Worshipped at the altar of Kurt Cobain
Last book read was his high school yearbook
Picked out of the garbage
Of a Sears and Roebuck
He knew all the cops and they knew him well
They said that boy there created his own hell
Well just like God was his reply
I wish I could remember how I used to fly
With the angels and birds and flying fish
From the Atlas Mountains
Down to Marrakech
They said he lost his will
His psyche jagged and ripped
He lost his ability to form friendships
But there was one thing that nobody knew
About a topless dancer – Runaround Sue
She thought his jokes were funny
And she showered him with money
His bath so hot whether he needed it or not
Come on Jim get it together
There’s nothing you can say that’s gonna spoil this weather
I can’t understand what keeps you standing
I know it ain’t the things that I’m demanding
Darling you know you’ll be a long time dead
Think of that each morning
And it will get you out of bed
LOCKED IN A CORNER
Right now you’re trapped in a corner
Run as far as you’re gonna
Desperation looking just like defeat
Maybe once you were an outlaw
‘Till that life became just too raw
You want a flat screen and a cushy seat
There you go – There you go
You say I try to take it easy
But those demons just won’t free me
Once I was standing on top of the heap
Well until you lost your balance
The remains of your great talents
Now barely get you something to eat
There you go – There you go
You’re a James Dean loner
But you wake up with a boner
So grateful there’s still life down there
But its back to the basics
Until you see a pair of nice tits
And you’re humbled at how much you care
There you go – There you go
SUMMER HOUSE
You had bad dreams
You tore your sheets
You’re beautiful when you cry
Caught in rain your sweater ran
Your breasts covered with dye
Your breasts all covered with dye
Threadbare oriental rugs
I love to watch you sleep
I’m drawn to you like an old cliché
And still the waters running deep
Running so deep
Rain was my drummer as I played guitar
I try to squeeze love out of steel
You are the reason I keep looking for
I remember summer meals
Charcoal fires and summer meals
After a week I could finally relax
You laugh at me all of the time
The flowers were dead
The winter lay ahead
We laughed and drank Perrier with lime
Drinking Perrier with lime
FORGIVENESS
If you can keep your head when everyone else is losing theirs
Then there’s a pretty good chance you don’t understand
What’s going on here
We’re wrecking a house- I have no doubt
When we start to shout- To find a way out
Excuse me if I don’t see the point in this
Forgiveness – forgiveness – Is what we miss
Forgiveness – forgiveness – Can get us out of this
Don’t be too fast with that last kiss
Forgiveness – forgiveness – forgiveness
Now is it just what I am or all the things that I’m not
Or was it something I did – Or something I just forgot
I tried it your way – Now I got to say
That you’re always strong
And I’m always wrong
Deliver me from the treachery of my tenderness
Forgiveness – forgiveness – Is what we miss
Forgiveness – forgiveness – Can get us out of this
Don’t be too fast with that last kiss
Forgiveness – forgiveness – forgiveness
Sorry was never my favorite word – I wore it out a long time ago
The only thing that’s good about it – is kiss and make up is sure to follow
But excuse me if I don’t see the point in this
Forgiveness – forgiveness – Is what we miss
Forgiveness – forgiveness – Can get us out of this
Don’t be too fast with that last kiss
Forgiveness – forgiveness – forgiveness
WHIRLWIND
Sunday streets are empty
The city sun cries down
Kicking in your front gate
But no one is around
Someone use to live here
Someone had a wife
Now I’m lost in the past year
In another life
Caught up in a whirlwind
Swept right off the ground
Caught up in a whirlwind
But I don’t hear a sound
Once our love was solid
Before it turned to dust
And the wind began to shatter
What was left of us
Caught up in a whirlwind
Swept right off the ground
Caught up in a whirlwind
But I can’t hear a sound
Where we lost it shadows can be found
Misty mirrors memories all around
Now I stand before you
Like a block of stone
I walked here with these flowers
Now I’m all alone
Caught up in a whirlwind
Swept right off the ground
Caught up in a whirlwind
But I can’t hear a sound
DHARMA
As I lay down before these words of mine
I kiss you softly and our breath resonates like windchimes
Rings of music – echoes in eons of time
You enter a space where everything starts to rhyme
From lookout mountain to destination peak
Our canvas kept changing to the marching of little feet
But your love was eternal your love was sublime
We did our best with a very small of time
I saw you standing all alone
In the darkness of a doorway
You whispered this is your home
Well I can make it here
If I can leave my fear way out there
Where nothing is clear
Except my love for you
And that’s forever …
I said I’d love you forever and that I always have
I loved you though happiness
And I loved you when things turned bad
I loved you through desire
And when that was empty too
I just loved you like a soldier who just kept pushing through
A testament written from me to you today
If this is not harmony then what is it anyway
We’re moving in waves and the lines stay parallel
Not together not colliding oh you understand me so well
I saw you standing all alone
In the darkness of a doorway
You whispered this is your home
Well I can make it here
If I can leave my fear way out there
Where nothing is clear
Except my love for you
And that’s forever
I know … I know they say nothing lasts forever
Whatever … I know better … I’ll be here … I’ll be here
As I lay down before these words of mine
I kiss you softly – our breath resonates like windchimes
Rings of music – echoes in eons of time
We enter a space where everything starts to rhyme
I saw you standing all alone
In the darkness of a doorway
You whispered this is your home
Well I can make it here
If I can leave my fear oh way out there
Where nothing is clear
Except my love for you … for you
And that’s forever
I know … I know … forever
THE FAR SIDE OF PARADISE
I woke up without a meaning
You might call that the European blues
I saw a painting where a man is screaming
I saw thousand-dollar shoes
If you come out tonight
To the far side of paradise
You’ll find everything you need
Wouldn’t it be nice
On the far side of paradise
Where no one is ever in need
Instability is rising
And it’s got me on the run
Take a look at what they’re merchandising
Selling celebrity by the ton
I’m going out tonight
To the far side of paradise
You’ll find everything you need
Wouldn’t it be nice
On the far side of paradise
Where no one is in need
Sixty points of liberation
Unite your body with the soul
They’re split in two with desperation
Won’t somebody make us whole
If you come out tonight
To the far side of paradise
You’ll find everything you need
Yeah – oh wouldn’t it be nice
The far far side of paradise
Where no one is in need
Wait the oracles are debating
Once again in riddles rhymes and codes
We keep dancing in the tower of Babylon
Just because their words are getting old
My feet are moving to the future
My ass is sitting in the past
I didn’t mean to be so rude sir
But today the point is mean and fast
Oh, help is on the way from a higher power
Where greed will be a thing of yesterday
I never believed in flower power
Too many weeds got in the way
Oh, Ozymandias has spoken
Just before he crumbled right into sand
He said infinity is waiting around the corner
For every last child, women and man
Oh, every season’s – it’s got an age of reason
Prophets of doom – Pollyanna’s too
Hear them snoring in their five-star hotels
Or step outside where I’m waiting for you
And if you come out tonight
To the far side of paradise
You’ll find everything you need
Wouldn’t it be nice – on the far side of paradise
Where no one is in need
Please come out tonight
To the far side of paradise
We’ll find everything you need
Wouldn’t it be nice – out there in paradise
Where no one is in need
JESUS
And what if Jesus had all that power
Like they say he did
Like when he made the blind see
And the lepers clean
And the dead rise
But what if he didn’t know why
And he couldn’t really control it
And it came and went
At his father’s command
And not his own
So that when he was pinned
To that cross in agony
And maybe waiting for a miracle himself
If that’s what he meant
Why have you forsaken me?
Because he’d never seen god
But he called him father
And he knew that it was he
That gave him the power
And he was scared
Scared a hell
Because he didn’t know
That the biggest miracle
Was yet to come
And if Lazarus could do it
They why not him?
But that was no recompense
Was it with the nails through
His hands and feet and his
Shoulders dislocated
No, at that moment he was thinking
Someone get me out of here
Because when he lost his power
He lost his faith
Like all of us
NAVY BLUE
I was sailing the ocean watching a radar machine
Years ago, I had some bad times – l landed in the merchant marine
Well I guess I knew – when the trial was through
The judge looked at me and he said son what else can I do
Good luck to you – navy blue
We were landlocked in old Amsterdam
Where I grew tired of scrubbing the floor
Thought I might take a walk through the red lights
Maybe buy myself a whore
I’m a man like any other
You know what I mean my brother
The first mate looked at me and he laughed
Said old sailor what you gonna do
Good luck to you navy blue
Nobody’d call me handsome – I’m not that movie star stuff
I got a heart that keeps on beating – and once I was in love
She was painting her lips red and then she pulled the curtain down
And maybe I was there for half an hour
But in that time the moon turned around
When I asked if I could take her away
She smiled and said no she had to stay
There were reasons I might never understand
But she told me to come back another day
Good luck to you navy blue
So twice I year I would see her
When we stopped in the port of Amsterdam
And I think I got to know her
At least the best that a customer can
She said her name was Magali and she came from Hungary
She made more money in a week
Then her father was ever likely to see
Good luck to you navy blue
Nobody’d call me handsome – I’m not that movie star stuff
I got a heart that keeps on beating – and once I was in love
I summer with my sister in Cleveland and I winter in old Santa Fe
See my sitting on a park bench
Another old man taking in a sunny day
And the only thing I fear is if I drop that first tear
For that girl called Magali
Then I’ll be crying the rest of my years
Good luck to you navy blue – good luck to you – navy blue
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON
Every day I got the blues – I don’t want to say it
But when I see the news – I got to say
What the fuck … what the fuck is going on
The economy is starting to crash
They say there’s a crisis of credit and cash
And the bankers and the brokers
They take the money and run
But where do we go – fools like me
I’m working hard – trying to raise a family
They to say to invest – but it always goes down
and I’m left with nothing – but that sucking sound
It’s the sound of the hole – where my money goes
And the billionaires if you think they care
Well then you believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny
And the checks in the mail
There’s something wrong here and I don’t know what
But I got a feeling down deep in my gut
There’s one big Ponzi scheme all over the world
They’re giving us crumbs – saying we should be proud
To be part of a system – that will always allow
You to succeed if you work very hard
But I don’t believe it cause they’re holding all the cards
And who are they – I don’t even know
Is that really your neighbor – on a reality show
Well my reality looks nothing like that
And I’m not choosing sides – not the left or the right
I’m so sick of politicians – and the way that they fight
They must think that we’re stupid – well maybe we are
But maybe we’re good – down deep in our souls
The way we take care of the sick and the old
I see the future in my children’s eyes
But I walk around scared and I don’t know why
Scared to die before I live
Will I have something left to give?
To give my son a better world
While mother earth is still a girl
Damn my fear
Damn my pride
Damn my prejudice
Open my heart
Open my mind
Give me strength when it comes my time
I’m not religious
I don’t go to church
Except for my meetings
But Jesus Christ
If he was here today
I think he’d be mad as hell
What the fuck is going on
What the fuck is going on
What the fuck is going on

Another album from the Archives which has done surprisingly well. “Dharma” was too long to fit on an earlier album and I’m glad we finally found a place for it as it features a brilliant guitar solo by Oliver and wonderful backing vocals by Laura Mayne who was in the hit-making French group Native. Also my 21s Century protest song “What The Fuck Is Going On” captured live in Norway. I think there’s a Ricochet… Again in the archives if I keep digging deep enough!
